Water Heater FAQ
How long does a water heater installation take?
Most tank replacements are completed in 2–3 hours. Tankless installations typically take 3–5 hours and may require some gas line modifications. We'll always give you a realistic timeframe before we start.
Will I run out of hot water with a tankless unit?
No - a properly sized tankless water heater provides endless hot water as long as demand doesn't exceed its flow rate (measured in GPM). An EcoFrost technician will size the unit to your home's peak demand so you never run short.
Are there water heater rebates in Ontario in 2026?
The legacy Enbridge HER+ water-heater rebate closed Dec 31 2025. For 2026, the active rebate is the Ontario Home Renovation Savings Program (HRS), which pays $500 for a heat-pump water heater only (not for conventional gas tank or tankless units). EcoFrost handles the HRS application for qualifying installs.
What size water heater do I need?
For tanks: 40-gallon for 1–2 people, 50-gallon for 3–4, and 75+ gallon for larger families. For tankless: we calculate based on simultaneous fixture demand (showers + appliances running at once). We'll size it correctly during the free quote.
My water heater is leaking - is it an emergency?
Yes. A leaking water heater can cause significant water damage quickly. Turn off the gas or power supply, shut the cold water inlet valve, and call us immediately. We offer 24/7 emergency water heater replacement across the GTA.
