Can one heat pump serve a three-storey Vaughan house?
It can, but the design matters more than it would in a bungalow. A heat pump delivers supply air at a lower temperature than a gas furnace, so it relies on moving more air for longer to achieve the same comfort. In a tall house with the return air concentrated low, that exposes any existing distribution weakness rather than hiding it. If your third floor is already a problem in summer, a heat pump will not fix it and may highlight it.
So how do you approach it?
By measuring airflow per storey before selecting equipment, and by treating zoning as part of the design rather than an upgrade to consider later. That might be two zones with dampers, a variable-speed air handler that runs long and low, or a ducted system for the lower floors plus a ductless head for the top. The right answer depends on your ductwork, which is why we measure it.
Is a hybrid setup a good fit for Vaughan?
Often, yes. Most Vaughan homes have natural gas and a relatively young furnace, so pairing a heat pump with the existing furnace keeps the gas appliance for deep cold and avoids both an electrical upgrade and the cost of removing serviceable equipment. Note that gas-heated homes qualify for the lower rebate tier, which we factor into the comparison honestly.
What about Kleinburg and the rural properties?
Those are a different and better case. Properties off the gas grid running propane or oil see much larger savings from a heat pump, and they qualify for the higher non-gas rebate tier. If that is you, say so at the estimate because it changes the arithmetic substantially.
