Which System Fits the Problem

Four different jobs, four different systems. Matching them wrongly is the most common and most expensive mistake in this category.

SystemInstalledBest for
Reverse Osmosis (Under-Sink)$800 to $1,500Families who want the purest drinking water at one tap
Whole-Home Filtration$1,200 to $2,500Homes dealing with hard water, chlorine taste or sediment
UV Water Purifier$500 to $1,200Homes with bacterial or microbiological concerns, common on well water
Water Softener and Filter Combo$1,500 to $3,000Hard-water homes where taste and scale are both problems

Municipal water across the GTA is treated and safe to drink, so filtration here is usually about taste, odour, hardness and sediment rather than safety. Hardness varies between municipalities and sometimes between neighbourhoods on different supply mains. Well water is a separate conversation, and that is where UV and proper testing belong.

Faults We Repair

Bad taste or odour from filtered water

Almost always a cartridge past its service life. Carbon stops adsorbing long before it looks dirty, so taste returns while the filter still appears fine.

Slow flow from the RO tap

A clogged membrane, a spent pre-filter, or a bladder tank that has lost its air charge. The tank is the one people miss, and it is the cheapest of the three to fix.

Leaking connections or fittings

Push-fit fittings on RO systems creep loose over time, and a slow drip under a sink can go unnoticed until the cabinet base is damaged.

UV lamp not working

UV lamps lose output long before they stop lighting, so an annual lamp change is maintenance rather than a repair. A dead lamp on a well supply means the water is not being treated at all.

Whole-home filter pressure drop

Sediment loading the housing. If pressure across the house falls noticeably, the filter is doing its job and has reached the end of it.

Water softener not regenerating

Salt bridging in the brine tank, a failed timer or control board, or a blocked venturi. Scale returning on fixtures is usually the first sign.

Water Purifier FAQs

How much does water purifier installation cost?

Under-sink reverse osmosis runs $800 to $1,500 installed. Whole-home filtration is $1,200 to $2,500. UV purifiers are $500 to $1,200. A softener and filter combination is $1,500 to $3,000. We quote flat-rate before starting, and the price does not change for evenings or weekends.

Which system do I actually need?

It depends what you are trying to fix. If the goal is better-tasting drinking water at the kitchen tap, under-sink reverse osmosis is the efficient answer. If it is scale on fixtures and appliances, that is hardness and needs a softener. If it is chlorine smell or sediment through the whole house, whole-home filtration. If you are on a well, UV belongs in the conversation. We would rather ask what you have noticed than sell you the largest system.

Do I need filtration on GTA municipal water?

Municipal water across the GTA is treated and safe to drink, so filtration here is about taste, odour, hardness and sediment rather than safety. Chlorine taste is the most common complaint we hear, and hardness varies noticeably between municipalities and even between neighbourhoods on different supply mains. Well water is a different conversation, and that is where UV and testing matter.

How often do filters need changing?

Sediment and carbon pre-filters every 6 to 12 months. RO membranes every 2 to 5 years depending on your water and how much you draw. UV lamps annually, regardless of whether they still light. Softener resin lasts years but the brine tank needs checking for salt bridging.

Can you repair a system another company installed?

Yes. We service reverse osmosis, whole-home filtration, UV and softeners regardless of who put them in or what brand they are. Cartridges and membranes are largely standardised by size, so parts availability is rarely the obstacle people expect.

Which areas do you cover for water purifier work?

The same Greater Toronto Area footprint as our HVAC work, including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Hamilton, Etobicoke and Scarborough.

Is water purifier work covered by your gas licensing?

No, and it is worth being precise about that. Our TSSA G1 and G2 tickets cover gas appliance work, which is a different trade from water treatment. Water filtration and softener work is done licensed and insured, but TSSA gas certification is not the relevant credential for it and we do not present it as though it were.
